Moving Out…

71398693_LwJECdiZ_c

Yes, it’s time I hit the road again!

redneck-mansion_thumb[1]

I’m heading down to Winter Camp on the Salmon River, where I left my camper last Fall.  (It even looks a bit like that orange and tan one in this Reneck Retirement Village.)

Please know, it is really Winter there so this will be a real experiment!  We are talking single digits!  Should be very interesting.

 Bringinghomethetrailers

Let’s just hope I don’t see any trailers for sale on the way down to White Bird, ID!  I am looking but don’t really want to haul one home in the snow.  Hummm, I could hire someone to haul it for me….heehee.

But then I might be tempted to get more than one!

Have a great week.  I will report from White Bird when I can.

It was a lovely view from my daughter’s home on Christmas day.  All that fog is over the Spokane River here in Washington.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day 029

I took these pictures a couple years ago on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day 034

We don’t have any snow this year but I am sure it won’t be too long now.  Opps…it did snow yesterday but it is all gone now.

Doesn’t this snow look like whipped cream or the ocean?

Christmas Day 004

Have a wonderful day.

I finally got a bit of decorating done ….can you believe it?

This adorable Santa was made by a friend, Debbie Noell.  Isn’t he just adorable.  See that cute little mouse between his feet?  I just love all the details.

Super Simple Sundays

frosty 006

The countdown is on….only ten more shopping days until Christmas!  That may not be accurate, as some stores seem to ignore special holidays and stay open, anyway.

Try to stay in the moment, enjoy these crazy busy days.

Throwback Thursday

oldies 002

My Grandma, Mary Maxwell (Mother’s side) at 14 in Edinburgh, Scotland, just before crossing the Atlantic to make a home in Canada.  My two year old grandson is named after her.

 old photos 003

My Grandma Mary and Grandpa Charles Trites.  Grandma was under five feet and Grandpa was six-four.  Quite a pair.  They came to live with us when they were in their sixties, after retiring from running a mom and pop grocery store (the precursor of a 7/11) in Seattle.

Winter Wonderland Wednesday

frosty 013

We haven’t gotten any real snow yet this year but it has been frosty, wet and cold.  And oh so lovely.  Sunrises and sunsets are always a special treat this time of year.

Winter Vintage Trailer Camping (reposting from Dec. '14)

sw Dec 039

Spending four nights this week on the Salmon River in December was a real treat.

sw Dec 033

It was cold, snow up there on the hill tops, but it was lovely weather….even some sun.

sw Dec 026

I even got to do a little Christmas decorating, I couldn’t wait…..see that cute oil can Christmas tree?…it was an awesome gift from my camping neighbor, Sherry.  And yes, she made it out of all vintage Christmas decorations!  I love it.
 sw Dec 030

I just never get tired of seeing this fantastic country…what a view!

 sw Dec 034

sw Dec 036

There was only one other couple staying in the park and they were gone each day so Sherry and I, plus our dogs, Jada and Dash had this lovely place to ourselves.  (With the exception of the owners, Anna and Duane who live on the property.)

sw Dec 044

Since I wasn’t expecting a gift tree, I had brought one of my own.  I got this last year as my grandma had one of these and it’s was such a wonderful memory, I had to get one.

 sw Dec 013

It was cold but not windy and I had my new infrared heater to keep me warm when I wasn’t outside.  We enjoyed walks with our dogs and hanging out….playing lots of Rumikub.
A bit of ice and slush driving home on Thursday but since we weren’t hauling trailers….no problem.

I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this old post from December 2014.  I'll be down again in a couple weeks winter camping in my 17' Bigfoot, Steel Magnolia.  I'll post some Christmas pictures for you then.

Dash Reporting...What I want for Christmas..

laundry-005_thumb2

…..First off….how about some more of those warm summer days…my very first baby toy (yep. that’s the one) I can’t have too many of those, kitty poop in the yard (oooheeee)…best ever, and cool grass beneath my paws.

Ok, I might just like to sleep with my Ma under the covers…that just might be the BEST THING EVER!!  (Not sure she will let me after she reads this!)

The best thing ever….I almost forgot, I love going camping in ‘Driving Ms. Daisy’ and we are going off to the Salmon River for a few days.  See you back here on Thursday.

What’s on your Christmas list?

Shasta Trailer Remodel...Looking Back

ms daisy 018

It’s hard to believe this is what ‘Driving Ms. Daisy’ looked like when I brought her home in October of 2010, from Post Falls, Idaho.

farm chicks 007 (800x600)

Here she is at Farm Chicks this last June.  She finally has her wings (she is after all a Shasta!) and her new paint job.

This is the before interior of the front of the trailer.  Now isn’t this just ugly?

 2010_1013TheGirlies0156

Don’t you love the curtains?  Sheesh!  No fridge, and such an ugly light over the sink, I nearly hit my head on it, as it stuck out about a foot.

 ms daisy 015

I got the primer out….and went to town getting her cleaned up in May of 2011.

 miss 029

In the mean time, I found the fabrics that inspired my color scheme and made new curtains for all the windows.  Don’t you love that couch cushion with it?  Ha!

sotf-006_thumb3

I was not a fan of blonde paneling, so being a retired painting contractor, I decided to use a couple of my favorite colors together, red and turquoise.  So when I found the fabric with those colors and yellow, I went for it.  I added yellow to it as I was never a fan of this color and decided to ‘get over it’!

This certainly lightened things up in here.

Lots of coats but I sure was having fun.

I ripped out the newer linoleum that was just laying on top of the original vinyl.  And decided to use it even though it was far from perfect.

  ms d chicks 027

I redid the area where the original icebox would have been (it had been recently redone to fit a microwave) so I could fit in a dorm fridge.  I used some original metal trim from another trailer to trim it out.

 ms d chicks 030

I had the stove powder coated in red, getting rid of the 1968 avocado.  Never was a fan of that color.

flowers and Ms D 009

I used some old light fixtures from a 1957 Aljo and painted them to match the new interior.

I found other accessories to add more splashes of red.  I love that paper towel holder….it matches the circles in my curtains, so, of course, I had to paint it, too!

My first outing was Farm Chicks 2011.  I was so nervous but since it was only about a half hour from my house….it was a perfect first time.

These were some of the photos featured in MaryJane’s Farm magazine.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing the befores and afters of Driving Ms. Daisy.  It is an ongoing fun venture, she is constantly changing.  I have recently taken all the Mexican stuff out and just gone….kitschy.
